There are plenty of preloved items that are looking for a new home right now so why give a new home to an older product for a change? We have plenty of preloved goods on our site at Lush and Green and there are numerous other ways to make use of upcycled or already used goods if you’re willing to give them a chance. Here’s a few suggestions for you to try.
Reupholster a dated chair – Noticed a chair in a charity shop window that’s seen better days? Imagine the fun you could have with that chair if you refurbished it to your style and taste? Okay it might not look much at the moment but strip the fabric away and you’ve got a great frame to start over again. New stuffing and fresh fabric will transform the chair and provide you with a trendy feature to use in your home.
Give a new lease of life to a tatty picture frame – Found a fab frame in a flea market that probably contained a painting at one time? That could easily become a mirror, make a feature out of the frame and fit new glass in the centre. Wooden picture frames are best, with plenty of embellishment around the edges. Paint them, strip them back to basics, or simply give them a really good clean.
Find a home for a rustic table – Can you class a tired looking table as rustic? You could if you placed it in a country cottage setting but how do you create a home for a preloved table in other types of environments? Actually there are a number of options open to you. A lick of paint is one, that’ll totally change the look of the table. Light sanding followed by a coating of oil is another, or you could use wax, varnishes or stains to bring out the natural beauty of the wood.
Look around for inspiration through preloved products, they’ll make your home look gorgeous!
